One of my several hobbies is cycling. The Shimanami Kaido is famous for being a sacred place for cyclists, and I've always wanted to ride it once. Many bridges span small islands floating in the Seto Inland Sea from Imabari City in Ehime Prefecture to Onomichi City in Hiroshima Prefecture. This time, while cycling along the Shimanami Kaido, I decided to go on a cycling fishing trip, where I could catch fish on any island along the way.

Departing from the central terminal, the road leading to the bridge ascends a gentle slope in a large circle. At first, I was paddled lightly, but due to my lack of exercise and the length of the uphill road, which was beyond my imagination, I started to think about how to distribute my pace, such as getting off the bike as soon as possible. While doing so, I arrived at the foot of a large pier in a few minutes while pedaling. After a short run, the scenery suddenly opened up, and suddenly it became fun. There was no wind on this day and it was perfect weather for cycling. The scenery on the bridge, where the sea breeze blows at the speed of my own pedaling, is spectacular. The safe road is completely separated from the road by fences and is also a walking course for locals. I felt ashamed of my lack of it.

Arrive at Hakata Island. I pedaled towards the port I had found beforehand. I walk to the tip of the breakwater with good scaffolding while peering into the water at my feet. The tide was nearing the end of its decline, but when I looked offshore, I could see that the current was still moving. While walking while looking for fish shadows, I found many ripples on the surface of the sea. I wonder what kind of fish it is. I sat down at the lighthouse and prepared a tackle. I decided to let the tide flow the rig of the super ball that can explore the surface. The current is fast, and the Super Bowl disappears in a blink of an eye. While adjusting the length of the float many times, I let it pass near the ripples, but I could not get a reaction from the fish.

We changed our strategy when the tide slowed down. Cast the rig where the tide is gentler at your feet. As I drifted slowly, the super ball began to move. Waiting for it, I grabbed the rod again and reeled in when it was sinking. The slender silhouette fish that came up is so a halfbeak. It's also a good size that can be used for sashimi. It is said that the shape of the mouth is suitable for collecting food on the surface of the sea, but the design created by nature goes beyond human imagination.

The tide has stopped. The waves are calm and you can see the sea clearly. When I looked at my feet, I confirmed several kinds of fish shadows along the wall of the breakwater. Gomoku fishing fever rose up, and I immediately put a rig at my feet. As soon as I got used to the rig, the super ball was pulled into the sea with great force. At the end of a nice fight, a happy customer who is a bit out of season, rockfish. After that, if you put a rig in it, it will eat the krill without hesitation. Big catch. When I think about how I used to try my best at night fishing when it was chilly, I was pleasantly surprised here.

Now it's time to resume cycling. Next time I decided to run and change the location to find a sandy beach. If possible, I want to worship Shirogis' face. While glaring at the map again, I arrived at a spacious sandy beach with no one around. Prepare a little throwing rig with a light balance. I hope Shirogisu has come to the shallows. And cast early in the green shining sea. I moved the point little by little and searched for the reaction, but I didn't get a reply. I was a little tired, so I leaned the rod against my Backpack and rested for a while. It feels like a luxurious time to immerse yourself in the place while looking at the tip of the rod.

When I pulled it up on the beach, it turned out to be a cute Megochi. It's a fish that lives on the beach, and when you're on the sand, you can't tell where it is. Regarding the handling of towels, what surprised me when I heard the story was how to wash the towels. When using it for a long time, it is better to wash it without adding softener to maintain the quality. The fabric softener coats the surface of the towel fibers with a surfactant, which makes the towel feel softer on the skin.

Local gourmet

When I searched the web before leaving for Ehime, I found that there are many restaurants in Imabari called Yakibuta Tamago Meshi (grilled pork and egg rice), and it has become a hot topic as a local B-grade gourmet. Among them, I visited the long-established Shigematsu Hotel. It was past lunchtime when we arrived, but the fact that the locals were constantly coming and going made us realize how popular the restaurant was.

When you pass through the noren, the menu on the wall and the tables and chairs already create the atmosphere of a delicious restaurant. I asked the store clerk to guide me to a tatami room, and immediately ordered the grilled pork and egg rice.

The dynamically fried egg is topped with a special sauce, creating a simple yet perfect dish. When I cracked the egg and mixed it, the diced char siu appeared from under the egg, and when I put it in my mouth, the sweet char siu, the egg, and the sauce were perfectly balanced. yes. I see.

Coupled with the owner's personality, there is one more shop that I want to visit again when I come to Imabari.
